New York GAA Celebrates Excellence: 2024 Annual Dinner Dance
The New York Gaelic Athletic Association (NYGAA) is thrilled to announce the return of its much-anticipated Annual Dinner Dance, set to take place on June 14th, 2024, at the prestigious Westchester Manor in New York. This gala event, a highlight in the NYGAA calendar, celebrates the spirit, achievements, and enduring commitment of its members to the promotion and success of Gaelic games in the region.
This year, the NYGAA is proud to honor a distinguished group of individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted our community and the sport at large.
Guest of Honor: Mike Hynes A stalwart of Gaelic sports and an exemplary leader, Mike Hynes has been chosen as the Guest of Honor for his outstanding dedication and service. Hynes' commitment to the GAA, both on and off the field, has been instrumental in fostering the growth and development of Gaelic games in New York. His contributions span numerous facets but in particular, the 2024 Connacht League Hurling journey in January, making him a deserving recipient of this prestigious recognition.
Community Spirit Award: Tracy Ely Dwyer The NYGAA is delighted to present the Community Spirit Award to Tracy Ely Dwyer, a figure synonymous with unwavering support and enthusiasm for Gaelic sports. Tracy's efforts in organizing events, promoting youth participation, and her overall dedication to the community embody the true spirit of the GAA. Her passion and commitment have made a lasting impact, inspiring others to engage with and support the Gaelic games.
Lifetime Achievement Awards: Johnny Kelly & Tom Nugent The Lifetime Achievement Awards this year go to two remarkable individuals, Johnny Kelly and Tom Nugent, whose names have become legendary within the GAA community. Kelly and Nugent have dedicated decades of their lives to the advancement of Gaelic games, their wisdom, and mentorship enriching countless players and volunteers. Their legacy is evident in the thriving state of Gaelic sports in New York, and these awards are a testament to their invaluable contributions.
