All of us in the GAA community was deeply saddened last night to hear of the sudden and untimely passing of Annie Chambers. Annie, of course, was the mother of the New York Treasurer Clare McCartney and longtime officer of the Ladies Board, Margaret Kelly, and grandmother to Annie Kelly, the current Ladies GAA player. She is predeceased by her husband Jimmy who was a lifetime supporter of the NY GAA and a fixture in Gaelic Park for decades.
Annie was a very proud Derry woman who traveled back to Ireland frequently and loved to socialize. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and many friends.
On behalf of all the Officers and members of the New York GAA, we extend our deepest sympathies to the Chambers family.
May she rest in peace.
